There's a lot to be said about the faux woodgrain and chrome look that is factory standard in the 62's. There are some die hard enthusiasts that love the classic look but truth be told I am not one of them. There's been rumours and conjecture of new and improved, updated interiors coming to Aus almost as long as the 62's themselves have been around but alas here in Aus, to date we've been left behind. Good news though, being an innovative bunch, the modifications came out nearly as soon as the aversion to the factory look began and there is now a vast array out there for whoever wants to update their interiors.
What we've done
Interior Wrap and Chrome Delete
As I mentioned above we weren't big fans of the woodgrain look and the blinding reflection from the chrome around the gear shift lever as the setting sun hit it was enough to cause at best eye watering and at worst a crash. So we set about having it wrapped to give it a more updated feel and save ourselves from the chrome reflection induced injuries. We were lucky enough to be recommend Robin from Auto Emporium located in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast who did an outstanding job. He recommended a really nice high class finish of brushed black Avery Dennison vinyl wrap and piano black paint for the chrome pieces. The finished look is beautiful and really elevates the cars interior to something we think should be factory standard. Get in touch with Robin here http://autoemporium.com.au
Digital Dash
This thing is the bomb! No joke, it brings the whole interior into the 21st century and looks freaking cool! We chatted with Cale at EC Offroad about the Carobotor digital dash and were sold on it as soon as we saw it. Gorgeous colours and graphics that can be seen with a touch of a button, matching backgrounds with the 4 different modes available on the selector wheel, snow, sand, rock and road, digital speedo and easy to see upcoming maintenance schedules. Car seat covers and floor mats
These are our personal preference but have found having two small kids in car seats the SuperTrim are freaking amazing at saving the leather from the kids seats and can handle pretty much anything that's thrown at it. Get yours here https://supertrim.com.au/buy-online/nissan/patrol/patrol-y62.html
We choose the 3d MaxTrac moulded rubber floor mats, these things are epic for coverage and cleanability. Get yours here https://3dmats.com.au/product-search?association%5B1%5D=103&association%5B2%5D=659&association%5B4%5D=758&association%5B3%5D=771
